For the first time, the Significant Learning Community (SILC) seminar “Bildungsinnovation im Kontext der Digitalisierung” [“Educational Innovation in the Context of Digitalization”] was held with all participants attending in-person on 30th April 2025. The course group met in Graz, where most of the participants who usually participate via digital means are working. The participating doctoral students of the FutureDEAL consortium organized the productive and exciting event together with Renate Motschnig and Vera Schwarz.

The Viennese participates and Renate Motschnig traveled to Graz together via train, with more doctoral students joining them in Wiener Neustadt. They used the travel time for working on projects, coordinating within the consortia as well as for friendly exchange. Having arrived in the city, they continued their conversations during a traditional Styrian lunch.

The afternoon began with a tour of the LLT Studio at TU Graz organized by Benedikt Brünner. Here, the experts of the studio team taught the participants the basics of video and audio recordings as well as a few tricks. The highlight of the visit was a guided recording session laying the foundations for potential future projects.

Following the tour, the group made their way to PH Steiermark, where Gerald Geier organized a room to hold the seminar in. There the group discussed possible use cases of media production in research and teaching. Further – as is the usual case for this course – two of the participants‘ research designs were presented and the group collected ideas for approaching specific challenges and further developing the research work.
We thank your colleagues from Graz and the course team as well as trans!doc for making this excursion possible and facilitating the great collaboration between consortia!
