On 25 and 26 July 2025, the doctoral students Anne Tiefenbacher, Petra Weixelbraun and Selina Gartner had the opportunity to participate in the 19th Berliner Methodentreffen at Freie Universität. With a total of about 500 participants, the Berliner Methodentreffen is the largest annual event on qualitative research methods in the German speaking area. Together with (study) colleagues, the two doctoral students gained insights into different methods and approaches of qualitative research and thus expanded their repertoire for their dissertations.

The various workshops and research seminars offered participants the opportunity to contribute their own research material, which gave doctoral students a new perspective on their work. In addition to the exciting workshops, there was an interesting keynote speech on the topic of ‘Failure in Research’.

Our stay in Berlin gave us the opportunity to exchange ideas with other motivated researchers from various disciplines. By participating in a joint dinner, we were able to deepen our newly established contacts and gain insights into other research projects.
