From 23–25 September 2026, the 11th ÖGGF conference with the topic “Gender_Queer Worldings: Violence, Alliances, Visions of the Future” took place at the University of Innsbruck. Alongside the performance keynote ‘Take My Breath Away: Queer World-Making and this Mess that is Desire’ by Joãn Florêncio and Liz Rosenfeld, there were a range of fascinating, diverse talks on the topic of ‘worlding’. Here, ‘worlding’ is understood as the creation of (alternative) worlds.
This was the second time Selina Gartner had had the opportunity to make a contribution tp the ÖGGF conference. With their presentation ‘Post-digital school spaces as institutions of (non-)belonging’, they were able to offer a critical perspective on the topic of belonging in schools. The presentation addressed the research question: “How is (non-)belonging performatively produced through practices of worlding in postdigital school spaces, and what role do institutional structures play in this process?” Insights into empirical data opened up a lively discussion with the panellists. Of particular interest was the distinction between solidarity and belonging from the perspective of Yuval-Davis’ theoretical concepts. Furthermore, new questions arose regarding the students’ positions – particularly in terms of class – in relation to digitality.

The conference featured ample breaks and activities to get to know fellow researchers from different disciplines. This offered new connections for future cooperations.
